Frequently Asked Questions

No. A valid FOID card is not required to enroll in or complete the 28-hour Armed Security Training course. However, you will need to meet all applicable state requirements when applying for your Firearm Control Card through the IDFPR following course completion. Contact us if you have questions about eligibility.

We strongly recommend completing the 20-hour Basic Security Training and obtaining your PERC card before enrolling in armed security training, as most employers require both credentials. Contact us directly and we will help you determine the right training path based on your current certifications and career goals.

No problem. Firearms are available to rent and ammunition can be purchased directly at the range. You will need to bring a rigid belt and holster regardless of whether you use your own firearm or a rental. Contact us in advance if you have questions about available rental options.

The live fire qualification requires students to demonstrate safe and accurate firearm handling on the range under instructor supervision. Your instructors will prepare you thoroughly before qualification day so you arrive at the range confident and ready to perform.

This is a state-mandated 28-hour program that includes both classroom instruction and range training. Session scheduling and format may vary. Contact us at 773-485-7223 or info@hbtsecuritygroup.com for information on upcoming class dates and available scheduling options.

Upon successful completion of the 28-hour program and written examination you will receive a certification of completion supporting your FCC application through the IDFPR.
